MGM Resorts and Marriott Expand Loyalty Integration to Include BetMGM Wagering Credits
MGM Resorts International and Marriott International have deepened their loyalty partnership, allowing Marriott Bonvoy members to convert points into BetMGM wagering credits in eligible US states. The expanded programme aims to drive cross-channel engagement and mark one of the most ambitious hotel-to-iGaming loyalty crossovers to date.
MGM Resorts International and Marriott International announced today an expansion of their existing loyalty alliance that will, for the first time, allow Marriott Bonvoy members to convert reward points into wagering credits on BetMGM's online sportsbook and casino platforms. The programme launches initially in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, with plans to extend to additional regulated US states by early 2027, subject to individual state gaming authority approvals.
Under the terms of the expanded arrangement, Bonvoy members will be able to convert points at a fixed ratio into promotional wagering credits, which carry standard playthrough requirements aligned with BetMGM's existing bonus terms. MGM Rewards members already enjoy reciprocal benefits across Marriott's global hotel portfolio following the two companies' 2024 loyalty tie-up, but this marks the first time hotel loyalty currency will flow directly into a regulated iGaming ecosystem in North America. Executives from both companies described the move as a natural evolution of a partnership that has already driven measurable incremental stays and casino visits.
Responsible gambling safeguards feature prominently in the launch materials. BetMGM confirmed that all converted credits will be subject to the operator's existing affordability checks, deposit limits, and self-exclusion tools, and that Bonvoy members opting into the programme must complete an additional age and identity verification step. Industry analysts noted that the integration could pressure competitors such as Caesars Digital, which operates its own vertically integrated Caesars Rewards programme, to seek similar external partnerships to broaden their acquisition funnels.
The announcement comes as US operators increasingly look beyond traditional advertising channels to acquire higher-value players at lower cost. With Marriott Bonvoy counting over 210 million members globally, the potential addressable audience dwarfs BetMGM's current customer base, though only US residents in regulated states will be eligible to redeem wagering credits. Both companies declined to provide specific financial projections but confirmed the programme will be reviewed after twelve months to assess retention and cross-property spend impact.
