Playtech Debuts Cross-Platform Bingo Studio 'BingoVerse' Targeting UK and Nordic Markets
Playtech has unveiled BingoVerse, a modular bingo product suite blending traditional 75- and 90-ball formats with slot-style side games and social features. The launch marks the supplier's largest bingo investment in over a decade and is aimed squarely at reversing declining engagement in the vertical.
Playtech officially launched its new BingoVerse studio on Thursday, positioning the platform as a modernised answer to stagnating bingo engagement across regulated European markets. The product combines classic ticket-based gameplay with slot-style bonus rounds, chat-driven community mechanics, and cross-device progression, allowing players to carry loyalty rewards between mobile, desktop, and tablet sessions. Playtech confirmed initial deployments will go live in August with tombola and Gala Bingo, followed by Nordic rollouts through Paf and Veikkaus partners in Q4.
The supplier said BingoVerse addresses a demographic shift that has hit the vertical particularly hard, with UK Gambling Commission data showing bingo gross gaming yield down roughly 11% year-on-year across the past two reporting cycles. By blending mechanics familiar from slots — including pick-and-click bonuses, tumbling wilds during interval breaks, and jackpot-style pooled prizes — Playtech hopes to attract a younger cohort while retaining its traditional player base. The studio also introduces a proprietary 'Room Host' AI feature that manages chat moderation and personalised prize drops in real time.
Shimon Akad, Playtech's Chief Operating Officer, said the company had spent nearly three years rebuilding its bingo tech stack from the ground up to support the new formats. 'Bingo has been under-invested across the industry for too long,' Akad said in a statement. 'BingoVerse is designed to be a genuine platform, not a single product — operators can plug in their own branded rooms, tournaments, and side-game libraries.' The company also confirmed the studio has been certified for the UK, Sweden, Denmark, and Gibraltar, with Ontario certification expected before year-end.
Analysts at Regulus Partners noted the launch could pressure competitors like Pragmatic Play and Playson, both of which have expanded their own bingo verticals in recent quarters. With operator margins tightening under new UK affordability rules and Swedish deposit restrictions, suppliers offering higher-engagement content in lower-risk verticals such as bingo are increasingly viewed as strategic partners rather than niche providers.
